S4-S6 Parents Meeting - Thursday 24th October

S4,S5 and S6 – Targeted Parents’ Evening (4.15pm – 6.45pm)

We would like to invite you to our Targeted Parents’ Evening on Thursday the 24th of October. This is an important evening in our school calendar, which is designed to support our young people and their parents/carers as we progress through SQA courses and move towards prelim examinations in January.

Some pupils in S4 will be issued an appointment with their Pastoral Care teacher. Similarly, some pupils in S5-S6, will be issued an appointment with the Depute Headteacher responsible for their house group. The purpose of this appointment will be to discuss, in a holistic way, progress made thus far, common development needs which have been identified across the range of subjects, and possible supports which may encourage the pupil to reach their potential.

Where S4-S6 pupils are not currently on track to achieve their potential, they will also be issued appointments with their class/subject teacher. Discussion at these appointments will focus on the specific strengths and development needs the pupil has exhibited within the particular subject area. Focused advice on the necessary next steps for exam success in this subject can then be explored in detail.

Any remaining appointments (for Depute Headteachers, Pastoral Care teachers and class/subject teachers) will then be made available for parents of S4-S6 pupils to book through our online system.

HOW ARE APPOINTMENTS MADE?

You should visit https://parents-booking.co.uk/hyndlandsecondary to open the booking site, enter some details about you and your young person and use the system to make appointments with the teachers you wish to see.  We recommend using the “booking wizard” which will work out the best order to see the requested appointments.

This will be available for you to make bookings from Wednesday 9 October pm until midday on Wednesday 23rd October. A more detailed “how-to-guide” is available on the school website for you to refer to.

In addition there will be further reports / tracking and a reminder of our regular Parents’ evening for all S4, S5 and S6 parents / carers are as follows:

S4 Parents’ Evening – Tuesday 18th February 4.15 – 6.45pm
