Head Teacher update - 8th Jan

Please find below some further information that was emailed home to families on Friday 8th January in preparation for the home learning programme starting on Monday 11th January.  Many thanks.

Information for all young people and parent /carers regarding remote learning:

Young people will be encouraged to follow their timetable when working at home using the same periods as in school. Timetables are being sent out for reference by e-mail throughout the course of today.

Staff will be following their timetables as much as is possible in order to allow our days to follow the structure of the school day and makes this experience as close to school as possible

Satchel One will be the main post for staff to signal assigned tasks that will be undertaken during the course of the week, this will allow parents to view and young people will be expected to submit work showing what they have completed.

Teams will be also used in S3 – S6 to support some direct teaching slots / some interaction of question and answer, we would expect young people to log in to their teams and access this support, learning discussions and feedback.

Departments will organise this depending on the frequency of the subject in the week.

We are monitoring engagement to encourage everyone’s involvement and engagement, House teams will follow up each week to support further if required.

Whilst some of the week will be consolidating work, there will also be new materials and content so it is really important that pupils attend and log on everyday.

Teachers will be there to help as much as possible and also remember that you can also help each other with any issues.

We know that structures and routines help so please try and follow your school routine as much as you can.

We will also host year group assemblies next week via Teams to communicate the main messages and reassure young people, these will be posted on one satchel for all young people.

If any young person is experiencing technical difficulties please e-mail Mrs Forrester gw09forresterlaura@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk

Kind Regards,

Louise Edgerton
