S2/S2 IDL Week - 15th -19th May - Detailed Information

Starting on Monday 15th May and running until Friday 19th May learners in S2/3 will be involved in a week of inter-disciplinary based learning activities.  Many of our S2/3 learners will be involved in a number of trips namely:

  • Blairvadach Outdoor Educational Centre
  • Modern Languages trip to Madrid
  • English Department trip to London
  • Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Training and Expeditions

Those learners who are not attending any of the trips above will be involved in a week of learning which will include:

  • Working on props, costumes and stage design for the school show 'Beauty and the Beast'
  • Participation in the school Photography Club where students will learn a variety of photography techniques in a practical setting
  • Learning activities and trips based on two themes - 'My City - My Glasgow' and health and well-being opportunities

Students based in school working on the themed topics of Glasgow and health will take part in the following activities:

  • Monday - Open Top Bus Tour of Glasgow with guided stop-off points where youngsters will explore well-known tourist areas of Glasgow.
  • Tuesday - Orienteering exercises in Mugdock Park and further exploring of their City Glasgow - namely the Peoples Palace and Winter Gardens, Kelvingrove Museum and Glasgow University & Hunterian Museum
  • Wednesday - Visit to the Grosvenor Cinema Glasgow to see 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' and in school literacy based task on 'My City - My Glasgow'.
  • Thursday - in-school based workshops focusing on creativity
  • Friday - in-school based sports taster sessions and basic CPR training

Students will attend an assembly on Friday 12th May and receive important information about each day.

On Monday and Tuesday students MUST bring a packed lunch with them - free school meals will be provided to those who are entitled to them.
