My name is Vanessa Kokota and I am the school’s Careers Adviser. I am employed by Skills Development Scotland, which is the National Careers Service. My role is to work with pupils in group discussions, drop-in clinics and 1:1 interviews. Through such work I can help children identify and develop Career Management Skills (the ability to understand their interests, values, strengths, horizons and networks) and how these skills will help them to become successful career planners throughout their lives. Whatever stage your child is, www.myworldofwork.co.uk has tools, information, articles and videos to help . On www.mykidscareer.com you could also find useful information about up-to-date opportunities, growing industries and job vacancies, exam and subject choices, career pathways and jobs of the future as well as stories and experiences from other parents. Should you wish to discuss your child’s career ideas and options, please contact me at: Vanessa.Kokota@sds.co.uk or at: 07867 353442.
Kind regards,
Vanessa

Your SDS careers adviser continue to offer career services. Like teachers, they are returning to school premises to deliver career support and guidance. Appointments will be held following strict COVID-19 health and safety measures agreed with the school.
Your child will speak to their adviser at points throughout the school year and will be supported by them at key times; making subject choices and preparing for moving on from school.
This year this will be delivered via one to one interviews (face covering and social distancing) and through online learning (group work via Broadcasts).
The Careers Adviser for Hyndland Secondary School is Vanessa Kokota.
She is in school Monday-Friday.
Pupils can self refer for a careers interview via pastoral care.
Parents are also very welcome to make contact also at Vanessa.Kokota@sds.co.uk
If your child has left school, our local SDS advisers are also available to speak to you or your child over the phone through your local career centre.
