Hyndland Secondary School

Open to all parents/carers and primary 7 pupils. This event allows parents/ carers and young people to step into the life of a first year student at Hyndland Secondary School. On the evening departments will showcase work undertaken in the S1 curriculum and some S1 learners will be on hand to answer any questions about life at Hyndland in S1.

Welcome to our partners in the Learning Community from our associated primaries.

We will keep you up to date with developments and information regarding the transition from primary to secondary as well as information for parents and guardians as well as other activities and events.

In light of the on-going situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently working on plans to support your child’s transition to Hyndland Secondary School in different ways. Normally at this time of the year, we would be inviting you into the school for our Open Evening, but this is unfortunately unable to take place at present. Following the October break we will provide information about our Virtual Open Evening which will involve a number of presentations and films from school staff and students which will take place early November.

In the meantime, can I please draw your attention to our school’s Youtube channel which can be accessed via www.youtube.com and search for Hyndland Secondary School? On here you will find a number of short films that we would encourage families to watch together which includes a virtual tour of our school.

On our school website under S1 Induction (accessed via our school from the top menu bar option), we have also uploaded some resources which again families may wish to look over at home to support the transition phase.

As soon as we have confirmation that it is safe to do so, we will invite the primary 7 children into the Hyndland Secondary School building to undertake some transition work with staff and departments. Further details of this will be provided as soon as possible.

Our two day visit to Hyndland is currently planned to take place on 18th AND 19th May 2021 with an Information Evening for parents/carers being held on Tuesday 19th May at 6pm in the Airlie Theatre.

Although we are living in unusual times, please be reassured that our staff and community here in Hyndland Secondary is completely dedicated to improving the lives of young people. We believe passionately in giving the very best opportunities to all young people and we very much look forward to working alongside you.
