Digital Learning Update
Hyndland Secondary, along with the other Glasgow schools will be undergoing an update to Digital Learning in 2019. This update has many parts but there are two key areas:
- New ICT infrastructure and equipment across the school
- Updating our understanding of Digital Learning and Digital Literacy across the school.
To help with this we are asking parents to complete a survey to help us understand the current range of access that pupils currently have at home.
Please complete this parental survey, it should take no longer than 10 minutes!
Infrastructure
The school is currently upgrading its internal network and connection to the internet to provide faster and more consistent access. Alongside this is wi-fi being installed in all learning spaces across the school. These are due to be completed by March 2019.
Equipment
The school will be taking ownership of iPads for all staff and pupils this year as well. This is a significant change to the way we work as a school and requires a lot of thought on how best to support our learners and their families on how to get the most out of this.
Digital Learning
This is where digital technologies, such as iPads but also other computers, cameras, printers etc can be used to support learning in any subject. All staff are looking for ways that new technologies can be used to benefit in their own subjects.
Digital Literacy
This is the important skills that all learners are expected to develop to help them engage with digital technologies for learning, life and work. It covers online safety and digital identity alongside making effective use of ICT equipment.
