In first year Design & Manufacture, you will learn about the design process and how it can be used to create a number of products from wood and plastic. You will make a prototype model of your designs and then evaluate these to see how well they solve the problem.
In First Year, you also study engineering and see how structures can be used to help create a strong design for a chair. This is tested using an ergonome and your team presents the evaluation findings to the rest of the class

Second Year Design & Manufacture is about improving your design, graphic and practical skills. You will complete a 'Design and Make' task involving wood and metal
You will also get the chance to study the design of an actual product and then display the evaluation results on a presentation which you share with the rest of the class
Second Year Engineering looks at mechanisms and then uses this knowledge to help you design and make a moving toy
